Instructions for Replacing Fuser Film Sleeves

This document provides the procedures to remove and replace the fuser and fixing the film. This introduction will help you troubleshoot some common error messages related to Error Code E00007, E0003, and E0002 that you may receive. It is any of the canon ImageRunner models. We are sharing a few methods to fixing film replace, so check them one by one until it gets solved.

The maintenance sign means that the copier needs to be well serviced and checked if something is to be replaced. Consumables such as drum, blade, fuser rollers, and developer are changed at such times. If you are sure that you have replaced the correct part or nothing is to be replaced, then you can proceed to clear the sign.

How to remove and change the fuser film?

You will only need the fuser unit. It is a little complicated but here it is. You need to remove all the covers, the several screws, and a bracket.

Follow the procedure described below to remove and replace the fuser film.

You have to remove the Fuser unit from the machine.
Take off damaged and used fixing film from fixing film assembly.
Clean surface of the heating element using Q-tip with alcohol.
Scoop up grease from the grease container with a plastic or a wooden spatula.
Apply grease to about 15-20 please on the surface of the heater (heating element and fixture). The total amount of grease to apply is around 0.03 oz or 1.0 gram for A4, and 0.07 oz or 2.0 gram for A3 pepper printer.
Place the plastic spatula or wooden spatula at an angle on the surface of the heater and with one forward and backward movement. Spread the grease evenly over the surface. Make sure no grease is applied to the surface of the film sleeve.
Position the film into a heater. And the end of the film with a round ring should be in good contact with the conductive rubber gear if pressure roller or the conductive brush after installation.
Turn the film many times by hand. When you feel film turning is free. You can assemble fixing film assembly with the pressure roller.

Note: It is very important to apply grease properly when replacing a fuser film. Improper installation will result in no-turning or damage to the film.
